Instructions
Step 1: Caramelize the Onions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle with sugar and continue cooking until golden and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
- Add balsamic vinegar, stir well, and season with salt and pepper.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
Step 2: Prepare the Sausage Filling
- In a large bowl, combine the ground sausage, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, Dijon mustard, breadcrumbs, and egg.
- Mix well until evenly incorporated.
- Add the cooled caramelized onions to the mixture and mix again.
